Germany: Netinera, part of the Italian railway holding FS Group, has issued a call for proposals. The company provides rail and bus services in Germany, where high-speed passenger services are provided only by Deutsche Bahn.
Netinera plans first to take delivery of the first 14 single-deck trains in December 2027. The vehicles will have a maximum speed of 300 km/h. The trains, designed for 15 kV AC lines, will be able to operate also in Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Sweden. The number of cars has not been disclosed but each train will have to carry 450–520 passengers in four classes.
The future contract will inlcude an option for an additional 36 trains, which are expected to operate on 15 kV and 25 kV AC lines and 3 kV DC lines.
