Denmark: The certification tests were complete, and the five-car EMU has been delivered to the customer.
The rolling stock will undergo trial runs on the network before commissioning, which is now expected to begin in 2027. Initially the IC5 was scheduled to enter service at the end of 2024. However, disruptions in the supply chain and difficulties in the design of the rolling stock made Alstom postpone the launch.
Based on the Coradia Stream platform, the IC5 EMU features a length of 109 m and a design speed of 200 km/h. The interior includes 300 seats, two places for wheelchairs, 12 bicycle spaces, and three toilets.

In summer, the Danish national operator DSB exercised an option for another 50 IC5 EMUs, extending the procurement to a total of 153 trainsets. All in all, the whole fleet with 15-year maintenance is valued at DKK 20 bln (€2.7 bln). It is reportedly the largest train order in the history of the Danish railways to date.
