Spain: The five-car train was presented at Alstom’s facility in Santa Perpètua de la Mogoda, Spain, where it is currently undergoing static and dynamic testing.
Upon completion, the vehicle will proceed with an approval process. A fleet of ten such trains is expected to enter service in late 2026 to early 2027 on a 22.7 km line connecting central Barcelona with the international airport.
The train boasts a passenger capacity of 656 people and can reach speeds of 120 km/h. The interior is fitted with 202 seats, seven folding ones, two wheelchair spaces, two areas for push-chairs and bicycles, and several luggage zones. Reflecting the route’s specific needs, the train is equipped with 20 passenger information screens and nine digital displays showing departure and arrival times.
A €177 mln contract for the supply and 15-year maintenance of the ten trains was signed with the Catalan operator FGC in 2022.
