Czechia: The five-car trainset has been delivered from the plant at Katowice, Poland, to the VUZ Velim test centre in the Czech Republic.
Based on the Coradia Stream, the low-floor IC5 can carry up to 300 seated passengers at a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
The Danish national operator DSB placed an order for these trains in 2021. The €2.6 bln contract includes the delivery of 100 trains and their maintenance for 15 years. This is reportedly the largest order in the history of the Danish railways and is intended to replace DSB’s previous generation regional fleet.
The first trains were originally scheduled to enter service at the end of 2024. However, Alstom has repeatedly postponed the launch due to disruptions in the supply chain and difficulties in the design of the rolling stock. The first IC5s are now expected to start commercial operations in 2027.
