Czech Republic: The company has delivered the third variant of its hydrogen-powered train, the hybrid Regiolis H2, to the VUZ test facility in Velim for certification trials. The train, which combines traction from both hydrogen fuel cells and overhead electrification, is expected to enter passenger service in France before the end of the year.

A fleet of 12 four-car trains was ordered from Alstom in 2021 by the regions of Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne – Franche-Comté, Grand Est and Occitanie, under a contract valued at €231 mln.

The Regiolis H2 has been developed on the Coradia Polyvalent platform, the intellectual property rights to which were transferred from CAF to Alstom in 2022 as part of the conditions for Alstom’s acquisition of Bombardier Transportation. Fourteen Alstom sites have been involved in the design and production process, with final assembly taking place at Reichshoffen, a site which also passed to the company as part of the merger.

The claimed train parameters are a of 600 km, compared with 660 km for the four-car Coradia Stream H and 800 km for the two-car Coradia iLint.
