Poland, Ireland: The assembly of a five-car train took place in Katowice, Poland, from October 2023 to April 2024.
Alstom says that the vehicle consists of more than 5,500 components from more than 100 suppliers from different countries. Each trainset is 82 m long and can accommodate 545 passengers. The interior has multifunctional areas for standing passengers, wheelchairs and bicycles. The full-scale mock-up of the head car and its interior was unveiled in March 2023.

In 2021, the national Irish operator, Irish Rail, inked a frame contract to supply up to 750 such cars for Dublin’s commuter network, Dublin Area Rapid Transit. The €430 mln firm order envisages 37 five-car trainsets, with six of them to be traditional EMUs and the rest 31 vehicles will have batteries in the head cars to provide an operational range of more than 80 km. The new fleet is to be launched from Q3 2025.
