Poland: The city tram operator Tramwaje Warszawskie has launched a framework tender for the delivery of 96 bi-directional and 64 uni-directional vehicles.
The firm part of the order includes 20 trams featuring one driver’s cab, with the first two vehicles to be supplied within two years after the signing of the contract.
The tender technical specifications are close to those of the five-car Warsolino trams by Hyundai Rotem, which were supplied to the Polish capital between 2021 and 2023 (pictured). The future rolling stock must be similarly fitted with pivoting bogies, five double doors per side, and have a length of no more than 33 m. But at the request of passengers, the number of seats will increase from 42 to 56 for uni-directional and from 31 to 42 for bi-directional trams. The vehicles must also be equipped with driver assistance and anti-collision systems.
Currently, the Warsaw fleet consists of 434 low-floor and 165 high-floor trams.
