Russia: The Ust-Katav Car-Building Plant, UKCP, has announced that it has produced 160 tram cars by year end, which is 52% more than the year-end results in 2023.
The plant supplied the vehicles to the cities of Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Tomsk, Lipetsk, Krasnodar, Chelyabinsk, Yaroslavl, Saint-Petersburg, Magnitogorsk and Ekaterinburg. The results exceeded the UKCP’s target, set early in 2024. By that time, the plant had expected to produce 148 trams.
Within 2024, the UKCP manufactured two new three-car models: a unidirectional 71-639 Kastor for Ekaterinburg and a bidirectional 71-638-02 Polaris for Saint-Petersburg. Its branch, the UKCP Service, started maintaining the supplied rolling stock and its key assembly units.
Previously in November, another major player in the market, PC Transport Systems, said that it would produce 200 trams by year end. According to the Federal Service for State Statistics, a total of 339 trams were produced in Russia for January-November, which is 44% more compared to the same period of 2023.
