Russia: This was told to the Vedomosti newspaper by the CEO of TMH’s urban transport subsidiary company, Daria Marku. “Currently the scope of metro car production responds to the demand, so there is no need to increase it”, she notes, adding that the production will get a boost in case the manufacturer signs a corresponding large contract.
Being one of the major manufacturers in the world with a record of more than 650 units produced, the TMH plant in Mytishchi can currently assemble more than 700 metro cars annually. To build trains for Moscow’s bulk orders, the plant was refurbished in the late 2010s, doubling its production.
The reported capacity of the TMH plant in St Petersburg is more than 50 metro cars per year. Its primary contract is supplying the Baltiets trains for the St Petersburg metro.
In turn, these days the TMH plant in Mytishchi mainly manufactures the Moscow trains for Russia’s capital. The plant also carries out an order for Minsk and takes part in the Baltiets supply project. A further order for new-generation trains is expected from Moscow, with possible involvement in other deliveries.
The TMH plant in Mytishchi is now implementing a large-scale project to sovereignise the production of components. It received RUB 2.9 bln (approx. $32 mln) in a concessional loan under the cluster investment platform.
