Russia: Kirill Kolesnikov, CEO of Sinara Algorithm, a subsidiary of Sinara–Transport Machines (STM), told about this at the Transport Mobility forum in Moscow.
The parent company is now implementing a concession project aimed at developing a tramway network in Taganrog, a city in southern Russia. Under the project, the city has received 50 trams produced by the Ust-Katav Car-building Plant (UKCP).
“The driver arrives at the depot to hand over a vehicle, after which the tram moves autonomously to the depot”, Kolesnikov said. The dispatcher authorises the vehicle to move, while the machine vision system controls its movement. According to Sinara Algorithm’s head, the technology has already been certified in accordance with EAEU technical regulations, and has been installed on all trams delivered under the concession project since March.
Kolesnikov has revealed that his company is developing a new system that will enable customers to select a range of IT solutions for rolling stock operations.
