Switzerland, Germany: The three-car bi-directional Citylink LRV will be on display at InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin.

These vehicles will be operated by Saarbahn, which oversees the light rail line connecting Germany and France. The tram train on display will be used for passenger service only in Germany, forming part of a fleet of 28 such vehicles. The first four units are scheduled for delivery by December, with the remainder to be delivered by 2027.

The dual-system Citylink will be powered by either DC 750 V or AC 15 kV and will have a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Its interior can accommodate up to 233 passengers, with 100 seats and areas for prams and bicycles.

Saarbahn is a member of the German-Austrian consortium VDV. Its objective is to develop a unified streetcar standard that allowed to reduce the cost of a car by €1 mln and cut maintenance costs through shared orders. In 2022, the consortium placed an order with Stadler for 246 Citylink tram trains, with an option for 258 vehicles.
