Finland: Pääkaupunkiseudun Kaupunkiliikenne, Helsinki’s public transport operator, has chosen a company to supply up to 183 trams.
The firm part of the purchase includes 30 unidirectional and 33 bidirectional cars and their 30-year maintenance. Previously, Stadler has never supplied trams to the country.

The contract’s value remains undisclosed. The initial price of a framework tender, announced in 2023, accounted for €1.6 bln. The deliveries are set for a new model Tango Nordic, which body will reportedly be produced from steel and the components will have a high percent of recycled materials. Other details are not given.

It is worth noting that the order was lost by the national tram manufacturer, Transtech, which has been part of Škoda Group since 2015. More than 13 years, Transtech was the only supplier of trams to Helsinki. Consequently, Škoda Group was a second participant of the tender.
