Switzerland: The company has developed a new communication-based train control system, NOVA Pro GoA4-Depot.
The solution will make shunting operations fully automatic at a depot of the Basel narrow-gauge railway, Waldenburgerbahn, which is currently under construction. The line’s automation equipment will enable automatic acceleration and braking under the driver’s control, GoA2. The technology, which will be unveiled at InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin, is said to be compatible with other CBTC systems.
The Waldenburgerbahn was completely rebuilt between 2021 and 2022, increasing the gauge from 750 mm to 1000 mm. The project received ten seven-car Stadler Tramlink tram trains and signalling systems.
A similar tram automation solution from Sinara Group has been adopted at a depot in the Russian city of Taganrog. Another such project is being developed by Škoda Group.
