Czech Republic: On 3 November, a fleet of seven ForCity Plus Praha 52T trams began passenger operation on Line 12, having previously covered the required 40,000 km on test. The city operator DPP plans to commission a total of 20 such vehicles by the end of the year.
The five-section low-floor trams with a length of 32 m can accommodate 243 passengers, including 70 seated. Each LRV is fitted with two pivoting bogies, the front one and the rear one, and two partly pivoting middle bogies. The use of electromechanical (instead of hydraulic) brakes, which was one of the tender conditions, has become a novel solution for the Czech manufacturer. Besides, the rolling stock is equipped with passenger counting and anti-collision systems.
The framework agreement with DPP provides for the delivery of up to 200 trams. By the end of 2026, Prague is due to receive 40 vehicles, according to the firm part of the contract. One tram is valued at CZK 82.5 mln excluding VAT (€3.3 mln).
