Czechia: The assembly of the first low-floor bi-directional ForCity Classic tram has started at the company’s production site in Plzeň. The whole batch of ten vehicles ordered by the Italian city is planned to be put into operation in September 2026.
The 32 m ForCity Classic tram will be based on three fixed bogies, two of which will be equipped with traction motors. Designed for a maximum speed of 70 km/h, each of the new LRVs will be able to accommodate 239 passengers.
In Škoda Group’s portfolio, these are going to be the first trams fitted with an anti-collision system, as stated by the manufacturer. In addition, the doors will feature automatic slide-out ramps to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.
