Singapore: SingPost and operator SMRT has launched a pilot project on the East-West line. For three months, mail will be delivered from collection points at Tampines and Raffles Place stations to the sorting facility near Paya Lebar station.

Trains from Kawasaki, Nippon Sharyo, Siemens Mobility and Alstom will deliver mail in the off-peak hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The new delivery channel is anticipated to reduce operational costs, and if successful, it may be deployed at other stations and lines.

Prior to this, there had been some trials of tram postal delivery projects. In the 2022-2023 period, a Flexity tram was deployed to deliver mail in Schwerin, Germany. Despite the fact that it was reported to be capable of delivering approximately 450 parcels, the pilot project was closed due to a lack of demand.
