Denmark: The tram services in the country capital are restored after they have been discontinued in 1972 with high-speed Avenio trams.
The vehicles have begun carrying passengers on the first section of a new line. Once the full 29 km route launches in summer 2026, peak-hour intervals are expected to be reduced from the current ten minutes to just five minutes.
The four-car bidirectional trams can accommodate 258 passengers, including 64 seated. They are equipped with a collision avoidance system. Propulsion is provided by six 100 kW motors, with a maximum speed of 70 km/h.
In February 2018, Siemens Mobility was awarded a turnkey contract for the line, including the supply of 29 trams, electrification, deployment of signalling systems, and depot outfitting. The German company is also responsible for maintenance for 15 years.
