Indonesia: Produced by the local manufacturer in 2021, the two-car vehicle is now undergoing tests on the tram and railway lines in the city of Surakarta.
As local media cites Febry Pandu Wijaya, Research and Development General Manager at PT Inka, the tram has been previously tested on the plant’s track and on a line between the production site and the city.
The rolling stock is equipped with the 200 kWh batteries installed on the roof and allowing for a range of 90 km. Besides, the tram is fitted with a computer vision system consisting of radars, lidars, and cameras. The data coming from sensors is processed with the help of artificial intelligence. The tram-train can detect obstacles and road signs in different weather conditions, maintain the set speed, and automatically apply emergency braking if the driver does not react. The vehicle is reported to be able to operate fully autonomously.
