Czech Republic: The five-car, 32m-long low-floor ForCity Plus Praha 52T began operating in regular service on one of the city’s tram routes following successful testing without passengers. Over the course of a three-month pilot phase, the tram is expected to run 20,000 km in passenger service.
The new tram is equipped with two pivoting end bogies and two semi-pivoting central bogies. It has a total passenger capacity of 243, including 70 seated. Notably, the 52T model features a mechanically actuated braking system rather than the hydraulic system used on previous Škoda models — a new technical requirement stipulated in the contract. The vehicle is also equipped with automatic passenger counting and a forward collision warning system.
Under a contract signed in 2023, Prague public transport operator DPP is due to receive 40 new trams in 2025–2026. The operator aims to put the first 20 units into service by the end of this year.
