China: At the end of October, the first four-car train began commercial service on a section of Line 4 of the city’s metro network. The entire 70 km line and the fleet of 18 such trains will enter service in 2026.
CRRC says that by using aluminium for the body, brake discs and other components, it was possible to reduce the weight of the train by four tonnes. The vehicle, which has a top speed of 120 km/h, can carry 818 passengers. Its development process took a record 227 days.

The GoA4 train is equipped with obstacle detection technology and has a system of shock, vibration and temperature sensors to monitor the condition of the wheelsets and infrastructure.
