The Government of Moscow launched an information platform UrbanTransportData (UTD) a year ago. Last week, its current functionality was presented at the International Transport Summit, attended by 107 experts from 24 countries.
The Summit witnessed the signing of joint declarations of cooperation under UTD with megacities from eight countries. These are Antalya in Türkiye, Bangkok in Thailand, Hanoi in Vietnam, Chengdu and Harbin in China, Cebu in the Philippines, Raipur in India, Vientiane in Laos and Sao Paulo in Brazil.
As the Moscow Department of Transportation told ROLLINGSTOCK, the same agreement was signed with Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in June, after Minsk from Belarus, Beijing from China, Manila from the Philippines, and Niš from Serbia had joined. This brings the total number of countries in the project to 15, including Moscow, the Russian capital.
UTD is intended to become a means of sharing open transport data among business people, researchers, students, and non-professionals. The concept forsees the collection and analysis of more than 30 indicators, including those related to fleets, infrastructure, traffic, etc., as well as the launch of the news and knowledge base portal.
In the future, UTD is expected to expand both in terms of the number of indicators to be processed and in terms of functionality. The open part of its website, accessible to everyone, will be unveiled at a later date.
