Russia: The three-section tram built by PC Transport Systems (PC TS) is currently undergoing the necessary preparations at the depot.

As reported by Moscow’s Department of Transportation, specialists from the Unmanned Transport R&D Centre of the Moscow Metro are installing lidars, cameras, and radars on the tram. They are also connecting and testing specialised systems and equipping a workstation for staff. Test runs will begin by the end of the month to prepare for subsequent passenger operations.

PC TS’s first highly automated single-section tram, the 71-911EM Lvionok, entered service in Moscow in September this year. It operates standard eight-hour shifts daily. The vehicle is fitted with the GoA3 ATO system, when a member of staff is present in the cab for contingency response. Two laboratory trams were launched alongside it to test new software versions.

Fifteen automated trams are expected to be in passenger service in the capital by the end of 2026, rising to 300 by 2030. It was previously reported that a shift to full unmanned operation, GoA4, is anticipated by 2027.
