Singapore: The driverless C810D trains are currently undergoing tests and pre-operational service, with the launch scheduled for the end of the year. Each 23.5 m long two-car trainset can accommodate 210 passengers, with 36 of them seated.
Under two contracts worth $400 mln signed in 2022–2023, Singapore’s operator SBS Transit ordered 25 Crystal Mover vehicles from the Japanese manufacturer. The agreement also included signalling systems and depot equipment. Manufactured in Mihara, Japan, the remaining 23 trains will be delivered gradually until 2027. These new vehicles will replace 25 single-car and eight two-car first-generation C810 trains, which Mitsubishi produced between 2000–2003 and which currently operate on two of Singapore’s light rail lines.
Meanwhile, Singapore continues to introduce Alstom’s Innovia APM 300R rubber-tyred trains on the BPLRT line, which remains technically incompatible with other lines.
