Recent deals and tenders in the urban rail transport market.

Sweden — A major tram procurement valued at SEK 4 bln (€374 mln) is being planned in Gothenburg. Local operator Västtrafik has issued a notice inviting manufacturer consultations. Last year, the operator completed a feasibility study for the acquisition of 65 trams, 30 m and 45 m in length, which are expected to enter service between 2030 and 2031.

Poland — Warsaw has cancelled a framework tender for the supply of up to 160 trams. According to operator Tramwaje Warszawskie, both submitted bids were rejected on formal grounds. Škoda Group failed to provide a qualified electronic signature on its bid, while Hyundai Rotem is currently subject to a temporary suspension from overseas public tenders imposed by the South Korean government. A new tender is now being prepared.

Czech Republic — Pragoimex will supply up to 60 EVO2 two-section tram kits to Brno under a framework contract valued at CZK 2.3 bln (€95 mln) signed with municipal operator DPMB. The firm order includes five vehicles priced at €1.57 mln each, with three units to be delivered within this year. Final assembly will be carried out by the operator itself, which is expected to save over €200,000 per tram. In recent years, Brno has procured rolling stock from both Pragoimex and Škoda Group.

Hyundai Rotem is currently building 46 seven-section trams for another Canadian city.

Latvia — Riga plans to procure 24 trams. Municipal operator Rīgas satiksme has launched a market study. Each vehicle, not exceeding 42 m in length, must be capable of accommodating at least 180 passengers.
