Recent deals, tenders and supplies in the urban rail transport market.

Germany — Siemens Mobility has handed over the 85th and final C2-series train to the Munich U-Bahn, where it has now entered service. The delivery completes an order placed under a 2010 framework contract and a 2022 amendment. Built on the Inspiro platform, the new trains are replacing A-series stock that a consortium of German manufacturers built in the 1970s and 1980s.

Uruguay — Stadler has revised its proposal for a five-line tram network serving the Montevideo metropolitan area, offering to supply 30 Citylink trams for the project’s first stage. The Swiss manufacturer has submitted the updated plan to the Uruguayan government. Estimated at $780 mln, the first stage covers two lines totalling 46 km and would be delivered as a public-private partnership under a 25-year concession, with construction taking the first three years.

Brazil — Alstom has completed deliveries of S-series monorail trains to the São Paulo metro. The fleet of 19 seven-car Innovia 300 trains, ordered in 2022 to support a planned extension of Line 15, was built at PATS (CRRC Puzhen Alstom Transportation Systems), Alstom’s joint venture with CRRC, in Wuhu, China.

Slovakia — Two cities are planning to buy up to 50 trams between them. Bratislava has ordered 20 bidirectional trams from Czech manufacturer Škoda Group for €77 mln excluding VAT, following a tender awarded last year. The trams will be built jointly with Slovak ZOS Trnava, and the purchase will be funded by EU grants. The specification matches Škoda’s ForCity Plus 30T, of which 40 units already run in the Slovak capital. Meanwhile, Košice operator DPMK has launched its own tender for up to 30 low-floor trams, worth an estimated €135 mln excluding VAT, or €4.5 mln per unit, with a firm order covering 10 vehicles.

Poland — Modertrans, the manufacturer owned by Poznań operator MPK Poznań, will build a batch of 10 trams for its parent company. The two sides signed a PLN 175 mln (€40.4 mln) contract following a tender, funded through EU grants. The order could grow by a further 20 units if additional subsidies come through. The new 32 m unidirectional trams will share their construction and design with the bidirectional Moderus Gamma LF 04 AC BD, 30 of which arrived in the city over 2024 and 2025.
