Recent deals and tenders in the tram markets.
Denmark, Germany — Stadler will supply up to 47 four-section Citylink tram-trains to Aarhus and Frankfurt am Main. The Danish operator Aarhus Letbane has ordered eight units with an option for 12 more. These low-floor tram-trains, with a capacity of 332 passengers, will be equipped with batteries providing an operational range of up to ten km. Meanwhile, the German operator Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund has ordered 27 high-floor, bi-mode tram-trains. Each vehicle will accommodate up to 360 passengers and feature doors positioned at varying heights to ensure barrier-free access from 760 mm, 800 mm, and 960 mm high platforms. The rolling stock for both contracts will be manufactured at Stadler’s plant in Valencia, Spain, with deliveries scheduled for 2028–2030.

Poland — Pesa will supply 27 trams to Kraków and Gorzów Wielkopolski. The transport operator MPK Kraków has ordered 20 four-section vehicles, exercising part of its option under a framework agreement for 90 new-generation Twist 3.0 trams. The €109 mln (excluding VAT) purchase—averaging €5.5 mln per unit—will be funded by a soft loan from the state development bank BGK. Additionally, following a public tender, the Polish manufacturer has signed a contract with the municipality of Gorzów Wielkopolski for seven three-section, bi-directional trams. The total cost of this procurement, including depot equipment, is €34.2 mln, with around €24 mln co-financed by EU funds. An option for nine additional units is included. Deliveries under both contracts are scheduled between 2026 and 2029.

UAE — The country capital seeks supplier for 25 trams. A corresponding request for proposals has been published by Abu Dhabi’s state transport company ADT. The tender envisages a single turnkey contract for the design and construction of the 19 km LRT4 line, including rolling stock, a depot, power supply, automatic block signalling, and dispatching systems.
Russia — Saratov has announced procurement of 16 low-floor trams. The tender has a starting price of RUB 2.8 bln (approx. $ 35 mln), which is approx. RUB 178 mln (approx. $ 2.2 mln) per unit. The uni-directional trams, with a length not exceeding 28 m, must consist of at least three sections and accommodate a minimum of 200 passengers. The results of the tender will be announced on 25 December, with deliveries to be completed by the end of May 2026. It was previously announced that the three-section trams would be procured from PC TS, which has been actively supplying rolling stock to the city over the past three years.

Russia— UKCP has completed the delivery of 49 single-section 71-628-01 trams to Krasnodar. The rolling stock was supplied under a concession project being implemented by Sinara – Transport Machines. An initial batch of 20 UKCP 71-628-01 trams and 21 BKM T811 trams from Nizhekotrans (a joint venture of Belarusian BKM Holding in Russia) was delivered last year. Under the terms of the concession, a further ten three-section trams are to be supplied.
