Brief overview of key events and news in the rolling stock markets.
CRRC has sent another batch of 20 locomotive-hauled trains for operation on the 592 km Mombasa–Nairobi Railway. This adds to another 41 trains delivered by the manufacturer since 2017. Each train comprises first-, second- and business-class coaches, a restaurant and a power coach. The contract for the additional batch was awarded in last September.
CRRC has signed a contract for the delivery of another eight 12-car trains in 2025, valued at $135 mln. At the beginning of the year, the company had already been ordered three such trainsets. This order was preceded by a reduction in the scope of the contract with PT INKA. The revised agreement stipulates that the local manufacturer will modernise two trains instead of the previously planned 19 vehicles. KCI cited PT INKA’s inability to deliver the rolling stock on time as the reason for this decision.

Pesa has been awarded the tender to supply up to 20 low-floor trams for the city of Toruń, with the firm part providing for the delivery of four trams and two options of eight vehicles each. Despite the Turkish Bozankaya offering being almost €2.5 mln more economical, the choice in favour of the local company is due to higher technical scores.
