Ukraine: Since early March, the high-floor LRV has been providing passenger service on the Metrotram line.
The complete overhaul of the Tatra T3R.P, produced by Czech ČKD in 1986, was financed by the city and conducted at the operator Shvydkisnyi Tramvai’s depot. Two more vehicles are expected to be renovated this year.
The tram has its interior and exterior entirely revamped. The body frame, outer and inside panelling, wiring system, floor, seating, external and interior lighting, heating system, doors and door opening system, handrails, and windows were all replaced.

The renewed vehicle is now fitted with a system for electronic traction motor control, a video-monitoring system and information displays, and the driver’s cab features air-conditioning. The tram has also received the new nose with better visibility windows and rear mirrors, offering a wider view.
Since 2022, Shvydkisnyi Tramvai has overhauled a total of 11 LRVs. According to the operator’s director Ruslan Bozhko, since 2024, the old bodies have been replaced with new ones, extending a tram’s service life for 10–15 years.
