Croatia: The low-floor three-car NT2400 tram has arrived in the Croatian capital a few months in advance.
In the near future, the city public transport operator ZET will conduct a trial run before the vehicle’s commissioning, which is scheduled for the second half of February. For the last 15 years, this is the first tram supplied to Zagreb.
The NT2400, designed for a maximum speed of 70 km/h, can accommodate 115 passengers, 27 of them seated. The rolling stock is fitted with batteries for an autonomous run and a passenger counting system. The local manufacturer Končar has designed this model on the base of the previous trams delivered to the city of Zagreb.
According to a 2022 contract and the exercised in 2024 option, Končar is due to deliver 40 trams till the end of 2026. Tomislav Tomašević, Mayor of Zagreb, has also highlighted that a further 40 vehicles will be ordered for the capital of Croatia. The total cost of 80 LRVs will amount to €200 mln.
