Italy: A six-car train was presented to Eugenio Patané, the Italian capital’s Councillor for Mobility, during his visit to a plant in Reggio Calabria. The train will be delivered to Rome by the end of this year, while two further trainsets are under construction.

Each train of 106 m will accommodate 1,204 passengers, 204 of them seated and four in special places for wheelchairs. With a maximum operating speed of 80 km/h, the train is 10% more energy efficient than the CAF S/300, which has been in service on the lines since the 2000s, according to the manufacturer. This improvement has been achieved through a more sophisticated traction system and a 5% reduction in weight.

The trains are delivered under a contract of 2022 providing for a total of 30 trains worth €264 mln. By the end of April 2026, the customer expects to receive 12 trainsets for Line B and two for Line A under the firm part.
