Romania: The five-car low-floor tram arrived in the city on Saturday, 18 May.
By the end of the year, the manufacturer plans to supply the whole batch of 17 vehicles, ordered in January, to join a fleet of 23 five-car trams, delivered earlier. The rolling stock is produced at the Bozankaya plant not far from Ankara, Turkiye.
Each tram of 29.9 m can accommodate 251 passengers. The vehicle boasts its batteries which ensure, according to the manufacturer, an autonomous range from 63 to 70 km, and that is a world record for trams. The vehicle equipped with three bogies has a maximum speed of 70 km/h and an acceleration rate of 1.1 m/s².
The cost of one tram is €1.9 mln. The whole contract worth €33 mln is financed through European funds under Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
