Germany: The first two of Potsdam’s new Stadler Tramlink trams entered regular passenger service in December.
The seven-section trams were built at Stadler’s Valencia facility in Spain, while production of the remaining 11 units will take place at the company’s Berlin Pankow and Velten plants. Deliveries from these sites are due to begin in mid-2026.
Each 42 m-long Tramlink can accommodate 246 passengers, including 74 seated, and has a maximum speed of 70 km/h. The vehicles feature six double and two single doors on one side, and are equipped with four bogies with swivelling axles designed to reduce wheel and track wear and improve curve running. The interior includes four multifunctional areas for prams and walkers, and two spaces for wheelchairs.

The contract for 13 trams, worth €60.8 mln, was inked with ViP, a city operator, in December 2021. Deliveries were to start in April last year, but were delayed. According to Stadler, supply chains were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukraine crisis and flooding in Valencia.
