Germany: The first six three-car Škoda ForCity Plus 46T trams have entered passenger service in the German city. Two additional units are being held in reserve, with a further two set to arrive shortly. The final three vehicles are currently in the final stages of production.
Each 30 m-long tram can accommodate up to 151 passengers, with seating provided for 51 passengers and an additional 5 folding seats available. The vehicles have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and run on two pivoting bogies at each end and a fixed central bogie. Approximately 70% of the floor area is low-floor, ensuring accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility.
The vehicles are being supplied under a contract inked in 2021, with an additional option exercised in 2022, covering a total of 39 trams for the Brandenburg cities of Frankfurt an der Oder, Cottbus and Brandenburg an der Havel. The contract includes an option for up to eight additional units. The orders totalling €110 mln are subsidised by the state of Brandenburg, and all vehicles are being assembled at Škoda Group’s plant in Plzeň, Czech Republic. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
