France: The first five-car trainset was put into service on Line 10 on 16 October. The MF19 is expected to make up the bulk of half of the Paris Metro lines within next ten years.
The 2019 framework agreement with the Île-de-France transport authority, envisages the supply of up to 140 trains (2,036 cars). Currently, 147 units have been ordered. The vehicles will be delivered in four- or five-car configurations, the latter designed for GoA4 and having no driver’s cab.
The 146-seat version will be launched on lines 3, 3bis, 10, and 12, while the 122-seat version will operate on lines 7, 7bis, 8, and 13. Total passenger capacity will be 586 and 592, respectively.
Alstom says that, compared to the MF77 trains, which have been in service since 1978, the regenerative braking technology and LED lighting of the MF19 will reduce energy consumption by 25%.
