France: The seven-car double-sided Urbos 100X was exhibited at the CEMH operations centre. The tram will now have a 1,500 km trial run across the city before being commissioned on Line 5 on 20 December.
A 43 m long vehicle accommodates 301 passengers, 70 of them seated, and offers space for three wheelchairs. Its intelligent, energy-efficient climate control system is said to be installed for the first time. The livery is created with the contributions of Cameroonian artist Barthélémy Toguo.
In 2022, CAF received an order for 77 trams, worth €224 mln excluding taxes, or €2.9 mln per vehicle. Of these, 30 will replace Alstom’s Citadis 401, which have been in service from 2000. The CAF plant in the commune of Bagnères-de-Bigorre plans to build two trams per month, with deliveries to be completed in 2030.
In 2022 and 2025 the Urbos 100X trams were ordered for Marseille and Tours.
