France: The seven-car low-floor Urbos 100X was unveiled at the depot of the French city’s operator Régie des Transports Métropolitains (RTM). The commissioning of the vehicle will follow its trial run to be conducted through November.
The aluminium-bodied tram is 42.5 m long and 2.6 m wide. Designed to accommodate up to 262 passengers, with 62 of them seated, the LRV features six double and two single doors on each side.
The contract for the delivery of 15 trams was signed in 2022. The order valued at €57 mln (€3.8 mln per one LRV) includes an option for additional deliveries considering the prospects for the Marseille tram network enlargement. The whole fleet is expected to be launched on the T3 line and its extensions by early 2026.
The new rolling stock is produced at CAF’s Bagnères-de-Bigorre plant in France, with four vehicles planned monthly. The Urbos 100X trams for Montpellier are also constructed there.
