Serbia: The five-car tram from the Turkish manufacturer was put in operation in late July, with two more LRVs under preparation for commissioning.
Each 30.5 m tram can accommodate 218 passengers, including 48 seated. Designed for a maximum speed of 70 km/h, the vehicle is mounted on three bogies.
A contract worth €70 mln, excluding VAT, for the delivery of 25 trams was signed with the city operator GSP Beograd in July 2024. According to the Serbian capital’s mayor, Aleksandar Šapić, the whole fleet will be launched by the end of March 2026.
It is worth noting that the new trams are wider than those running in Belgrade now, with their width of 2.4 m against the 2.2 m CAF trams and 2.3 m Divag cars. Citing a representative of the operator, local media reported that it could pose problems on some parts of the tram network, particularly at intersections and turnings. Last Friday, one of the Bozankayas derailed during its trial run.
