USA: The first six Innovia APM 300R train cars with an aluminium body have commenced passenger service in the automated transport system of Denver International Airport, DEN.
The two km line with four stations between the terminal and three concourses was inaugurated together with DEN in 1995. The train cars have been constructed at the Pittsburgh plant.
This year, Alstom is expected to supply 20 such train cars, ordered in 2018 from the acquired Bombardier Transportation for a value of $79 mln. DEN is planning to expand its fleet to 41 trains, replacing 16 CX-100s produced by Bombardier in 1995.
DEN currently operates a dynamic schedule based on passenger volume. The airport systems are capable of running simultaneously up to eight four-car trains during peak times.
