India: The three-car Metropolis train was unveiled by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
June saw the beginning of trials on the section of Pune Metro Line – 3. The first 13 km long section is to be launched in September with the entire 23.3 km line with 23 stations to be finished by next March.
The train powered by the 750 V DC third rail was developed to operate with a maximum speed of 85 km/h and an average operational speed of 34 km/h. Its passenger capacity is 1,000 people.

The contract for the supply of rolling stock, electrical, and mechanical equipment on a Public-Private Partnership basis was awarded in 2021 to a joint venture comprising Alstom, Siemens, and local Tata. Under the Make in India programme, the trainsets are being manufactured at a facility in Sri City. To date, the city has received four of the 22 trainsets on order.
