China: A fleet of 16 such cars has rolled off the production line at the Chinese manufacturer’s site in that same city.
The vehicles are expected to enter service in 2025 on the 2.3 km line which provides connection between the two terminals of the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. The monorail trains will reportedly cover the distance in less than 150 seconds, running at a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
Depending on the passenger flows, there will be formed trainsets including from one to four cars. Each car, featuring three 1.4 m double doors per side, can accommodate 112 people.
The rolling stock is powered by permanent magnet synchronous motors. As stated by the manufacturer, in contrast with a traditional three-phase induction motor, such a traction system becomes 30% lighter and 10% more energy-efficient. In addition, the new vehicles are fitted with supercapacitors utilising regenerative braking energy.
