Argentina: Every two or three hours one of two trains of two cars carry tourists on a 35 km section of a narrow-gauge Volcán-Tilcara line.
Its launch took place eight years later than originally planned due to financial problems, miscalculations, and other factors.
Under the contract signed in 2022, the trains were manufactured in June and were sent to the country in September of the next year. The trial operation began in December 2023.
The train has two lithium iron phosphate batteries with an operational range of 120 km, fitted on the roof. It takes 25 minutes to full charge, which can be done on two stations. Although the vehicles can reach speeds of 70 km/h, their average speed is about 50 km/h for the route being tourist. The car, with floor-to-ceiling windows, can accommodate 72 passengers, and the driver’s cabs are located on either side of the train.
