Italy: Since September, three six-car Inneo trains have been progressively introduced on Line 11. The remaining seven trains are scheduled to enter service by the end of 2026.

The contract for the supply of four trains was signed with operator EAV in 2020, and in 2023 an option for a further six trains was enacted. The total value of the order, including three years of maintenance, amounts to €100 mln, of which €60 mln has been allocated from the state budget under Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.

In 2022, there were some operational challenges with the CAF Inneo trains for Naples supplied under a contract signed in 2017. The inaugural train was taken out of service temporarily a month after launch due to a software malfunction that prevented the compressor from functioning as intended.
