Poland: This is what Jacek Jaśkowiak, the mayor of Poznan, told the news portal Transport Publiczny.
According to the city head, the Spanish manufacturer will submit a price offer this year. CAF will reportedly agree to the purchase if it is allowed to build a paint shop to turn the Modertrans plant in the city into a full cycle factory.
The city owns 15% of the shares in Modertrans, while the city operator MPK Poznan owns the rest. It is expected that 85% of the shares will be sold in the first stage. The sale of the company is attributed to the expansion of production in Poznan with greater access to international orders, which will be available after becoming a part of a major market player. Earlier, Swiss Stadler and South Korean Hyundai Rotem were also interested in buying the company.
Established in 2005, Modertrans has delivered more than 520 Moderus Alfa, Beta and Gamma trams. The company is also involved in the modernisation of trams and trains. Its revenue in 2024 reached PLN 300 mln (€71.8 mln).
