The first five-car tram has arrived in the Serbian capital at the end of May. According to the city’s mayor, Aleksandar Šapić, another vehicle is expected to be delivered by 20 June, to be followed by delivery of two more cars each month.

This 30.5 m tram can accommodate 218 passengers and has 48 seats and four double and two single doors. Its maximum speed reaches 70 km/h. Three bogies are located under two head and one intermediate car.

The tram contract was signed between Bozankaya and city operator GSP Beograd last July. The deal is worth RSD 7.9 bln (€67.5 mln). Other tenderers, Pesa and Siemens Mobility, expressed reservations about the purchase due to the short deadlines for the submission of bids and the delivery of trams, as well as the specific requirements for the rolling stock. Today, the city has launched a major tender for 100 trams.
