Belarus: Aleksandr Kazakevich, Deputy General Director for Marketing and Sales, has announced the news during his interview for the Respublika newspaper.
“The trams are considered to be equipped with unmanned technologies”, BKM Holding’s representative said without going into details. According to Kazakevich, the new trams will also be able to run autonomously for 1 km.
Currently, the Minsk plant is occupied with the assembly of the first two single-car low-floor T811 trams designated for the capital of Belarus. The vehicles will be put into pre-operational service later this month. A total of 20 such trams are planned to be produced for the city. BKM Holding states that the localisation level is 80%.
Across the CIS, serial supplies of trams fitted with computer vision systems are provided to St. Petersburg. A similar highly automated tram has started carrying passengers in Moscow. The city of Yaroslavl is also going to equip its trams with computer vision technologies.
