Serbia: The capital’s operator GSP Beograd has put 100 two-car low-floor trams out to tender. The new vehicles are to renew the city’s fleet completely.
Intended for delivery are 17–20 m long trams, with a passenger capacity of more than 95 people. The deal is reported to cost RSD 40.5 bln ($360 mln) at most, including a three-year warranty maintenance, diagnostic equipment, spare parts, and staff training. The deadline for applying for the tender is the 1 April.
Belgrade received the last trams back in 2011–2-13. These were 30 five-car Urbos 3 trams (pictured) by CAF. Shortly, the first 25 units, ordered last summer from Turkish Bozankaya, are expected to arrive.
There had been discussions on the purchase of 100 trams in Belgrade for several years. Thus, Uraltransmash reported the negotiations between the Russian and Serbian governments in 2021.
