Chile: A five-car AS-22 train was unveiled at the company’s production site in Taubaté, Brazil. The unit is currently undergoing factory testing ahead of its scheduled dispatch to the Chilean capital in the second half of the year.

The 102 m long train is said to accommodate 1,247 passengers. It features two dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility and is equipped with the highest grade of automatic train operation system, GoA4, along with inter-car gangways, and passenger information and CCTV systems. The car body is made of stainless steel.

The $388 mln contract for supplying 37 five-car trains for Santiago’s future Line 7 and a 20-year maintenance was awarded in early 2022. Alstom secured the order through a competitive tender process, prevailing over rivals CAF, CRRC, and Hitachi Rail. The entire fleet’s entry into passenger service is planned for 2028, coinciding with the scheduled launch of Line 7.
