Australia: The French manufacturer has published a video showcasing the exterior and interior of the future four-car trainsets. The passenger compartment features fixed and folding seats, inter-car gangways, and areas designated for wheelchairs and bicycles.

The rolling stock is intended for the eastern section of the future Suburban Rail Loop (SRL), a ring line in the Australian city. A fleet of 13 such GoA4 fully automated trains is scheduled to enter service alongside the route’s opening in 2035.

Last week the state of Victoria awarded the eastern SRL section contract to the TransitLinX consortium, which includes Alstom. The manufacturer’s share is estimated at €1 bln. Alstom will supply the 13 trains, equip the line with radio-based CBTC signalling and platform screen doors, and provide maintenance for trains and infrastructure over 15 years.

Train production is planned at Alstom’s Dandenong plant in the Melbourne agglomeration. Meanwhile, the company produces rolling stock for Melbourne’s suburban rail network at another facility in Ballarat.
