India: The company handed over the first Metropolis trains for trial operation. They were delivered under the 2022–2023 contracts, signed with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, DMRC, and Chennai Metro Rail Limited, CMRL.

The trainsets were produced at the plant in SriCity under the Make in India programme. Alstom says the vehicles for Delhi are 100% locally manufactured and obtain GoA4 driverless features.

The six-car trains for Delhi were ordered by DMRC to operate on three lines in November 2022. The €312 mln contract envisaged delivery of 52 such trainsets and 15-year maintenance of 12 units.

CMRL has ordered in total 36 three-car EMUs worth €124 mln in 2022–2023. Each train can accommodate 1,000 passengers and run at a maximum speed of 80 km/h. The vehicles will run on the Chennai Metro Line 4.
