USA: The road-rail Commander NXT railcar mover will be available in four models with tractive effort ranging from 115 to 183 kN.
The vehicles are powered by a Cummins Stage V compliant diesel engine. According to Raj Gupta, President and CEO of Maintenance of Way at Wabtec, the Commander NXT’s narrower frame and enhanced wheel stability system allow it to negotiate demanding rail environments, tunnels and sharp curves without losing power. All four models are equipped with telematics and ShuttleLaunch, a system that optimises tractive effort, minimises wheel slip, and extends tyre life.
